Here we go!
If you are a first time visitor, welcome! This is my personal blog to keep you updated on my latest adventure as a LuLaRoe consultant. My hope is to share information about these amazing clothes, give you ideas for outfits and accessories, and to keep you up to date on the latest news related to my inventory and events.
I was first introduced to LuLaRoe through a friend at work, who invited me to an online pop-up boutique. I had no idea what the clothes were; I had never heard of the brand prior to this party. I ordered a pair of leggings to support my friend… well, you probably have guessed what happens next.
I went to a different friend’s boutique, this time in her home, and tried on every piece of clothing they had in my size. Some of it was love, some of it was not – but I was hooked. Soon, I was joining groups and searching inventory from consultants around the country for items to add to my wardrobe… until one day, I said to my boyfriend, “Maybe I can do this too.”
This is my first time ever thinking that I could successfully run a business. A common question among mental health professionals is whether we would want to run a private practice in our career, and my answer has always been “NO.” I hated the idea of running a business, dealing with payments and insurance companies, marketing myself and my practice… none of it sounded appealing. This time, wearing this brand and knowing that it can positively impact women by introducing them to a clothing line that is comfortable and stylish (AND FITS!), I felt that I could be successful.
So let’s talk about why I’m here. LuLaRoe has changed the way I view clothes. It has changed the way I view fashion. It has changed the way I view my body. Let’s face it, magazines on the rack at the grocery store are not speaking to me as a plus size woman. (And if they are, it’s usually telling me that I need to go on a diet, or try this new exercise, or think about a surgery.) It is rare to find a clothing brand that markets to all sizes – not like Lane Bryant or Torrid that has a specific plus size market to advertise to, but a brand of clothing that makes clothing for all sizes equally. LuLaRoe does that. The models you see on their marketing look like normal, average women. Women who have curves from having children, who are the “right size” but don’t look toned and ripped like paintbrush ads want us to aspire to be. Women who look like me. So many women that I have interacted with online say this is a huge reason they choose to spend their money on LuLaRoe, instead of a cheap alternative on the clearance rack at Target – because they see equal marketing and equal inventory.
LuLaRoe has encouraged women all over the country to step out of their comfort zone and wear clothing that they feel good in. Before I was introduced to LuLaRoe, I hated wearing skirts or dresses. Nothing ever fit me right, the zippers and waistlines and buttons did not line up with my body type, and I felt awful. Now, my friends will tell you that I wear skirts frequently, and I love them. I love the flowy Azure skirt, I love my Cassie skirts that hug my curves and make me feel incredibly confident and sexy, and I love my Maxi skirts that hide the fact that I didn’t shave my legs this morning. ☺
My goal as a consultant is not just to run a successful business, which by definition is to make money. While this will fuel my decision to maintain my business, my purpose for becoming a LuLaRoe consultant is to encourage as many women as I can that life is too short to be stuck wearing boring clothing. I want to empower women to step outside of their comfort zone, because they deserve to wear clothing that makes them feel confident, stylish, and sexy without sacrificing comfort. I strive to build an online community that builds women up and encourages them to love their bodies and to provide support to one another, because no matter what size you, you deserve to feel good about yourself and have a venue to offer that support to women around you. I want to create a community that teaches women how to love themselves, so that my daughter has a good example of what it means to be confident in her own body as she grows up (and I know so many women who want the same thing for their daughters, too!).
So I hope you join me in meeting my goals, and if you are new to LuLaRoe, I encourage you to reach out to me and set up a time that you can stop by and try on your new favorite clothing, or let me help get you in touch with a consultant in your local area. I have lots of ways to connect via social media, and will post new inventory frequently in my Facebook VIP group. You deserve to have clothing that you feel beautiful and confident and comfortable in.
